Headache Clinic in Haeundae, Busan — When Painkillers Are Getting You Through the Day, We Start With the Neck and Shoulders

Scans say nothing is wrong, yet you can't get through the day without a painkiller. Here is how we sort out headaches and treat them at our Marine City clinic in Haeundae — in English.

요약When headaches keep coming back even though tests show nothing wrong, they often start in the neck and shoulders rather than the head itself — tension-type or cervicogenic headaches, where tight muscles at the back of the neck and shoulders bring a squeezing pain from the back of the head to the temples. limda k-medical clinic (경희림다한의원), 38 Marine City 2-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan, next to Park Hyatt Busan, looks at when and where each headache begins and eases the neck and shoulders first with acupuncture, with consultations in English. Appointments prioritized, walk-ins welcome; weekdays 10:00–19:00, Saturdays 09:00–17:00.

A softly lit bed with white pillows and a rumpled duvet against a plain wall

"I even had a scan and they said everything's fine. But every afternoon my head starts to tighten." That is what we hear most from people who search for a headache clinic in Haeundae and find their way to our Marine City treatment room. Being told nothing is wrong is a relief, and frustrating at the same time — the pain is still there, and nobody can tell you why.

limda k-medical clinic (경희림다한의원) is across from the Suyeong Bay Yachting Center in Marine City, Haeundae, and reservations are recommended and walk-ins are welcome; consultations are one-to-one.

Headaches painkillers handle — and ones they don't

Many of the headaches we see begin not in the head but in the neck and shoulders. When you spend the day in front of a screen, the muscles at the back of the neck and across the shoulders stiffen; the muscles and nerves running up to the head get squeezed, and a band-like pain spreads from the back of the head to the temples. With these tension-type and cervicogenic headaches, a painkiller can mute the pain for a while, but as long as the muscles stay locked, the headache keeps coming back. Some people also have a migraine-like side — a throbbing temple, sensitivity to light and sound — and here too, neck and shoulder tension often acts as the trigger.

How we approach it in Marine City

First we listen closely to when, where and how your headaches come on, and we press along the back of the neck and the shoulders to find the stiff points directly. Treatment is LIMDA AcuNap: acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, electro-acupuncture, infrared warmth and physical therapy in one session. It happens in a dark, quiet room, and most people fall asleep and wake up feeling refreshed. As tight muscles loosen, many people first notice the gaps between headaches getting longer. If your sleep is shallow or your digestion has also gone off, a herbal prescription suited to your constitution can be added in 15-day units, with a follow-up consultation after 15 days before anything new is prescribed.

Cost and insurance

Visitors without Korean national health insurance pay out of pocket; fees are posted at limda.co.kr/fee-schedule and confirmed before anything begins. Residents with Korean national health insurance (ARC) are covered for acupuncture, electro-acupuncture and physical therapy. Pharmacopuncture is not covered, and we tell you the cost before treatment.

Try keeping a headache diary

For even a few days, note when each headache comes, how you slept the night before, how long you sat at a screen and how many cups of coffee you drank. The triggers start to show. Coffee is often tangled up with headaches, so cutting back where you can helps; for water, a rough guide is 300 ml per 10 kg of body weight a day. After 50 minutes of sitting, simply standing up and rolling your neck in one big, slow circle can change how your afternoon goes.

Frequently asked questions

Q. Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are prioritized, and walk-ins are welcome on weekdays 10:00–19:00 and Saturdays 09:00–17:00; booked patients are seen first, so there may be a short wait.

Q. What kind of headaches do you see?

Mostly tension-type and neck-related (cervicogenic) headaches, where stiff neck and shoulder muscles bring a squeezing pain from the back of the head to the temples, including people whose migraine-like headaches seem to be triggered by that tension.

Q. What happens at the first visit?

We go through when, where and how your headaches start, check the neck and shoulders by touch, and then treat with LIMDA AcuNap in a quiet, dark room. A herbal prescription in 15-day units is added only if it suits you.

Q. Can I be seen in English?

Yes. Consultations are in English, one of our doctors consults directly in Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese interpreting is arranged with 48 hours' notice.
