What Happens During a 40-Minute AcuNap? The Session, Step by Step

The question first-time visitors ask most is what happens while they lie there for 40 minutes. Here it is, stage by stage — the mix can change with how your body is that day.

요약AcuNap is a roughly 40-minute acupuncture session in a private room at limda k-medical clinic (경희림다한의원), 1F Haeundae I'Park Tower 1, Marine City, Busan, next to Park Hyatt Busan. It follows one arc: warm the body, place the needles, add electro-acupuncture, optional pharmacopuncture and cupping, then rest. Appointments are prioritized and walk-ins are welcome, weekdays 10:00–19:00 and Saturdays 09:00–17:00.

An LIMDA AcuNap at limda k-medical clinic (경희림다한의원) lasts about 40 minutes and follows one simple arc: warm the body, place the needles, add electro-acupuncture — plus pharmacopuncture and cupping where they fit — and then simply rest. LIMDA AcuNap is our name for this session (acupuncture + nap), because so many people fall asleep during it. We are in Marine City, Haeundae, on the 1F of Haeundae I'Park Tower 1, next to Park Hyatt Busan, and LIMDA AcuNap takes place in a private treatment room with a door that closes. First-time visitors often ask what exactly happens while they are lying there, so here it is in the order we explain it in the consultation room. The mix and order can shift a little depending on how your body is that day and where it hurts.

limda k-medical clinic (경희림다한의원) is a 10-minute walk from Dongbaek Station (Busan Metro Line 2), and five measurements — pulse and constitution reading, body composition, EEG stress, and 3D facial analysis — take about 15 minutes.

Before the treatment room — the examination

LIMDA AcuNap does not start with lying down. First the doctor asks where it hurts, since when, and with which movements, then presses and moves the area to check. Whether it hurts when you turn your head, when you stand up from a chair, or more at night changes where the needles go. If pharmacopuncture looks helpful, we tell you at this point that it is optional, explain it and confirm the fee before anything begins. It goes ahead if you want it, and not otherwise.

Step 1 — Settling in and warming up

You go into the private room and lie in a comfortable position: face down for the lower back or hips, face up for the knees or ankles. An infrared heat lamp warms the treatment area first. The muscles loosen a little and tension drops, so you tense up less when the needles go in.

Step 2 — Acupuncture

Needles are placed at the points found in the examination. Besides the tight muscles around the painful area, we sometimes also use points on the hands and feet that lie along the same meridian. The prick as a needle goes in lasts a moment; after that, many people feel a dull, heavy or achy sensation. If anything feels uncomfortable, just tell us right away.

Step 3 — Electro-acupuncture and pharmacopuncture

A mild electrical current is connected to some of the needles — this is electro-acupuncture. You feel small, light twitches in the muscle, and the intensity is set to whatever feels comfortable to you. If you have chosen pharmacopuncture, a small amount of a solution extracted from herbal medicinal ingredients is injected at set points.

Step 4 — Simply resting

With the needles and electro-acupuncture in place, a quiet stretch of rest follows. The door is closed, so there is little to hear from other people, and many fall asleep at this point — which is where the name LIMDA AcuNap comes from. Falling asleep does no harm to the treatment, and staying awake is fine too. You can call us at any time, and there is also a family treatment room if you would rather be with your family.

Step 5 — Cupping and finishing up

After the needles come out, cupping is done where needed. You feel the cup pulling at the skin, and round marks may remain; they usually fade within a few days. If you would rather not have marks, mention it during the examination and we will adjust where or how cupping is done. Finally we check your movement and pain again, and talk you through when to come back and what to watch at home.
