How Much Does Korean Medicine Cost in Busan? An Honest Guide

What does acupuncture or herbal medicine actually cost in Busan — with NHIS, with travel insurance, or out of pocket? An honest guide from an English-speaking clinic in Marine City, Haeundae.

How Much Does Korean Medicine Cost in Busan? An Honest Guide

"How much will it cost?" is the first question most international patients ask — and the one that clinic websites answer worst. This is an honest guide to how pricing works at a Korean medicine clinic in Busan, written by LIMDA, an appointment-only clinic in Marine City, Haeundae.

The two-price reality: NHIS changes everything

If you live in Korea with an ARC and NHIS (national health insurance) coverage, core treatments — acupuncture, electroacupuncture, cupping, physical therapy — are covered, and your co-pay per session is a small fraction of the full price, typically in the range of a coffee or two rather than a dinner. This surprises many expats who assumed Korean medicine was an expensive extra. If you are a visitor without NHIS, you pay the full uninsured rate, which we state clearly before any treatment begins.

What is not covered

Pharmacopuncture (herbal extracts injected at acupuncture points), cosmetic facial acupuncture, and most custom herbal medicine are out-of-pocket for everyone. Custom herbal prescriptions at LIMDA are made in 15-day units after pulse diagnosis — you are never asked to commit to months of medicine up front, and we adjust or stop at each 15-day review. A government pilot program covers herbal decoctions for a few conditions; we check your eligibility during consultation.

Travel insurance and receipts

If you are visiting Korea, many travel insurance policies reimburse acupuncture for pain or injury. We issue itemized receipts and treatment records in English on request — bring your policy details and we will tell you what documentation you need.

Our rule: the price comes before the treatment

At LIMDA you will hear the cost of anything non-covered before it happens, not on the bill afterward. At your first visit (40–60 minutes: pulse diagnosis, consultation, and usually same-day treatment) we map out a treatment plan with its full cost so you can decide with numbers in hand.

Q. Do you take foreign cards?

Yes, international credit cards are accepted.

Q. Can I just come for one session while traveling?

Of course. Jet lag, neck and back pain from travel, and stress are the most common single-visit reasons. Book at limda.co.kr/booking or +82-10-7925-6248.
