Longevity check-up in Busan — five non-invasive measurements, read in one morning

Most Korean longevity programs sit in Seoul and run for days. This one fits a half day in Haeundae: five non-invasive measurements, explained in person.

Longevity check-up in Busan — five non-invasive measurements, read in one morning

A man in his fifties came in last spring with a folder of blood work from home. Every line sat inside the reference range. He put it on the desk and said, “Nothing is wrong with me, and I feel terrible.”

Blood panels are built to find disease. What they cannot describe is the slope you are on — whether what you spend and what you recover are anywhere near even. That never arrives as an abnormal flag. It arrives as a decade.

Why Busan, and why half a day

Longevity programs in Korea cluster in Seoul, and most run as multi-day packages. The people who ask us are here for something else — a conference at Centum City, a week in Marine City with family, two nights before a flight home. Half a day is what they actually have.

Measurements in the morning, the reading with me afterwards, results in writing. We are on the ground floor of I-PARK T1 in Marine City, Haeundae, next to Park Hyatt Busan hotel. We run by appointment — walk-ins are possible, but booked patients are seen first, so expect a wait.

The five measurements

All five are short and non-invasive. No blood, no needles.

Constitution assessment — how your body behaves under load.

EEG stress measurement — brain-wave patterns tied to stress and recovery. This is where the my-labs-are-normal group usually shows something.

Body composition — not weight, but the muscle-fat split and where the fat sits. Leg muscle is one of the more honest things to know about your next twenty years.

3D facial analysis — volume and asymmetry, mapped. Faces record fatigue earlier than people expect.

Pulse diagnosis — the part no machine does. I take the pulse myself and ask about sleep, digestion, temperature and appetite.

Read together, the five sketch which of jeong, gi and shin — essence, energy, spirit — is running low.

What you leave with

I do not hand people a score. A single number is too easy to misread.

You get a sentence per system instead: where you are ahead of your age, where you are behind, and which one to start with. Usually there is only one. If it fits, there is also a 15-day herbal prescription made for you at a 1:1 external dispensary — fifteen days because bodies change.

Honestly, some of what turns up belongs to a cardiologist rather than to me, and when it does I say so first. Unexplained weight loss, blood in the stool, night sweats that wake you, numbness that is spreading — those go to a Western-medicine specialist first. Korean medicine is a long game. Those findings are not.

A check-up is a snapshot, not a forecast, and results differ by person.

Q. How long does it take?

Half a day, including the consultation.

Q. Is it covered by insurance?

No. Fees for non-covered services are posted on the non-covered fee schedule on our website, as required.

Longevity is a fashionable word. The unfashionable half — measure where you are, change one thing, measure again — is the half that works.
