After 50, Muscle Says More About Your Health Than Weight — A Healthy-Aging Note from a Busan Clinic
Same weight for ten years, yet the stairs are harder and jar lids will not open. Why muscle is the first number of healthy aging, the warning signs, and what to do at home.
요약limda k-medical clinic (경희림다한의원) is next to Park Hyatt Busan in Marine City, Haeundae, measures body composition with an InBody 970, explains the results in English, and welcomes walk-ins. After 50, weight can stay the same while muscle falls and fat rises, so muscle mass and walking strength say more about healthy aging than the scale; daily sit-to-stands, protein at every meal and walking are the basics.

limda k-medical clinic (경희림다한의원) is next to Park Hyatt Busan in Marine City, Haeundae, measures body composition with an InBody 970, explains your results in English, and you can walk in without an appointment. We are open weekdays 10:00–19:00 and Saturdays 09:00–17:00, about a 10-minute walk from Dongbaek Station. We are in Haeundae-gu on the east side of Busan, not in the Nampo-dong or Jagalchi area of Jung-gu. Body composition, an EEG-based stress reading and pulse diagnosis take about 15 minutes together.
limda k-medical clinic (경희림다한의원) is on the first floor of I’Park Tower 1 in Marine City, Haeundae, and five measurements — pulse and constitution reading, body composition, EEG stress, and 3D facial analysis — take about 15 minutes.
When I show body composition results to patients in their fifties and sixties, the reaction is often surprise: "But my weight hasn't changed in ten years." The number on the scale can stay the same while what is inside it changes. When fat fills the space muscle leaves, the weight is the same and the body is not.

Signs that muscle is going
- You reach for the handrail on stairs
- You push off with your hands to stand up from a chair
- Jar lids are harder to open
- People say you walk more slowly
- Your weight is the same but your waist is bigger
Why muscle comes first
Muscle is the strength to walk and stand, and it is also where much of what you eat gets used. Less muscle means more of the same meal is left over, and less strength to catch yourself if you trip. That is why we treat muscle mass as the first number of healthy aging.
At home
- Stand up from a chair without using your hands — 10 times, three times a day
- Protein at every meal — eggs or tofu at breakfast, fish, meat or beans at lunch and dinner
- Walk at least 20 minutes a day — a gentle slope is better than flat ground
- Sleep — muscle recovers while you sleep; if your sleep is shallow, start there
What we do
We measure muscle, fat and water balance with the InBody 970, and look at sleep and recovery with an EEG-based stress reading and pulse diagnosis. The doctor explains the results in English, and we measure the same way at your next visit to compare. If your energy is low we may prescribe herbal medicine 15 days at a time. We do not claim any medicine builds muscle; exercise and food come first, and herbal medicine helps you keep going.
Frequently asked questions
Q. Can I walk in without an appointment?
